Revelation Youth Choir
20th Annual Revelation Retreat
Friday and Saturday August 5-6
All sixth through 12th graders are encouraged to attend the Revelation Retreat and sing with us this school year! Regular rehearsals are Sundays at 4:00 p.m. beginning on August 14 in the Music Suite.

Children's choir
Our Children’s Choir will begin again on Wednesday, August 17!
Children in 2nd through 5th grades are encouraged to sing with us! The choir rehearses on Wednesday evening at 6:30 for 45 minutes and the kids are invited to stay for activities until 8:00 p.m. with Miss Chris if they or their parents wish. Rehearsals are in room 111 in the basement. The Children’s Choir sings once a month in worship services and presents a Christmas Pageant in December!

Youth Bells & Jubilee Ringers
Our handbell ensembles will begin rehearsals again on Wednesday, August 17
We have openings in both ensembles and would love to have you come ring! Youth Bells requires no experience and is open to 5th through 12th graders who meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 until 6:30 p.m. and play in worship about once a month. The adult choir, Jubilee Ringers has 3 positions open for those interested. Previous bell experience is not necessary but being able to read music is needed. All bell rehearsals are in the Music Suite.
Chancel Choir
Our adult choir meets nearly every Wednesday of the year and now is a fantastic time for you to come and sing with us! We sing every Sunday at the 8:30 and 11:10 services and singers choose for which of the two or both they will sing. Our members are dedicated but do have busy lives and it is fine to miss a Sunday here and there! We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. in the Music Suite. We will be joining forces with First Baptist Church and others from around the community to sing a Christmas Cantata again this year! We will have a full orchestra and will need more singers! Those rehearsals will begin in September and extend Wednesday rehearsals to 8:30 p.m. There will also be optional rehearsals at First Baptist Church on Sunday evening beginning in late September.

guitar class
Beginning Guitar at FUMC!
Come learn to play the guitar this fall! The class is open to anyone 6th grade through adult and will meet for 10 sessions from August 23 through October 25! Classes are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 until 7:30p.m. in the Music Suite. We have guitars and all the materials you need for the class! If you would rather use your own guitar, that is fine too!
I am inclined to call this “Campfire Guitar 101.” This is a very basic class where we will learn how to tune the guitar, and to strum and play 5 to 6 chords that will allow us to work on a good number of songs! We will also learn basics about reading guitar music.
The cost of the class is $40.00. All proceeds of the class are to benefit the Music Ministry at FUMC with a focus on assisting youth attending choir camp in the summer. If paying by check, please make it to FUMC.
How much you progress will be largely determined by the amount of time you can spend practicing between sessions. Your fingers will be happier after 3 weeks or so if you are playing 3 to 4 times a week for even 15-20 minutes! J
