United Methodist Women

Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

   COOKBOOKS:

Cookbooks are still available in the church office!  $15.00 each.

Notecards:

Notecards depicting a sketch of the current church building are being sold by the United Methodist Women. Cost is 10 cards for $7.50 and they may be purchased in the church office.

NEW MINISTRY IDENTIFIED:

Audell Hughes, UMW Oklahoma Conference Vice-President, announced that a new ministry of UMC is the John Wesley Charter School, located at 2240 NE 19th in Oklahoma City. This is a school to help at-risk students, 9th through 12th grades, continue their education in a setting that will enable them to graduate from high school and become productive members of society. The program is aimed at recovering dropouts and building new leaders. The school, similar to our Lincoln Academy in Stillwater, enrolls 170 students who have many material needs in order to even go to school. Stillwater District UMW has been asked to provide 85 backpacks—that is the District not just our local unit—but our UMW needs to work on this.

Fellowship Information and Meetings

UMW Unit Meeting

All women of the church are warmly invited to the UMW Unit Meeting on Wednesday, November 7^th.  Rev. David Stephenson will speak on "Women of Bolivia," based on his experiences from his mission trip to Bolivia last year.  Join us for lunch at 11:45 a.m. or at 12:15 p.m. when we start the program.  We will hold a short business meeting after the program.  We plan the meeting so women can fit this time of fellowship into their work schedules.  Please feel comfortable to leave at any time to accommodate the demands of your schedule.  The Mary-Martha Fellowship will be hostess.  Don't forget to bring a food item for the Store House!  Please join us for good food, wonderful company and a great program in the Social Hall of the church.

UMW FELLOWSHIPS meet on a monthly basis. Please watch the newsletter and updates pages for dates, times and locations.  We hope ladies not already in a fellowship will visit one or several and find one they would enjoy attending.
