Our Mission: “I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” John 13:15
Through opportunities in service, worship and fellowship activities, the ELEVATION Young Adult Ministry is a place where diverse individuals can learn, challenge themselves and take the risk along the journey of life to do just what Jesus taught.
Upcoming Events December 27 –
January 2
Bible Studies and Worship ELEVATION has Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. in room 105 of the Main Building. This Sunday School is a discussion based Bible study that focuses on different issues faced in the lives of young adults today. ELEVATION also has a Bible study on Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This group enjoys a potluck dinner together every week and is currently discussing faith questions as outlined in the book "The Meaning of Jesus," co-authored by Marcus Borg and N.T. Wright. Missions and Service Our Mission is to obey Jesus when he said to go and do likewise in John 13:15. With this in mind, the ELEVATION Young Adult Ministry will create opportunities for you to be involved in long-term, short-term, local and distance mission projects. Currently we have an afternoon project set up over fall break weekend in October to help prepare the bags for the weekend food program for students at the local elementary schools. We also have a mission trip planned for spring break (March 14th-22nd) to work with people in the inner city of Chicago. If you are interested in any of these activities, are looking for ways to complete service hours or have ideas of how we could be in ministry to our local community, please email Andrea at AndreaShafer@FUMCStw.org! Fellowship Events Every Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. ELEVATION meets at the church for different activities. We will play putt-putt, go to dinner or other venues around the Stillwater area in order to get to know each other and enjoy some down time before a new week starts. In addition to these weekly outings, there will be various events that are held outside of the regularly scheduled activities such as a trip to the OKC Rocktown Gym and dinner at Bricktown as well as a watch party for an OSU Football game along with a chili cook-off supper. Stay tuned in to this website and look for announcements in the worship folders, the weekly emails and announcements in Sunday School and at College Lunch! College Activities One ministry Stillwater First United Methodist Church offers our college students is a FREE College Lunch provided in the Social Hall of the Main Building every Sunday immediately following the 11:10 a.m. worship service. This meal is home cooked and served by one of the organizations or Sunday School classes associated with our church. Come and join us every week school is in session! In addition to this College opportunity, the Stillwater First United Methodist Church supports and promotes the activities of the Oklahoma State University Wesley Foundation which can be found on the corner of University Avenue and Washington, directly across from the Student Union Parking Garage. They offer a FREE College Lunch every Tuesday from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in addition to many diverse forms of worship and outreach to our community and around the world.
